Analyzing bird monitoring data stored in National databases and collected using modern protocols can be particularly difficult for conservation practitioners. While regular consultation with statisticians is still important, new advances in technology are allowing us to construct simple but powerful tools that allow land managers and biologists to use bird monitoring data to inform management decisions. We are currently focusing on two tools that read data from the USGS Bird Point Count Database: 1) AbundanceR - To compare bird abundance (corrected for detectability) using time-removal models and 2) Data Explorer - To analyze trends in historic count data. |
